For birders, one of the most eagerly anticipated spring arrivals is the Ring Ouzel. Whilst they breed in the uplands, during migration, these dashing thrushes can turn up anywhere on suitable habitat across lowland England. Pasture fields, horse paddocks, and golf courses all make an excellent rest stop for Ouzels on their migration.
 
With their white crescent collar, and silvery 'scales', this charismatic thrush is always a spring highlight.
