The Purple Finch (Haemorhous purpureus) is a charming little bird, with males of the species sporting the raspberry-red plumage from which they get their name. Purple Finches live in the coniferous and mixed forests of Canada and the northeastern United States, as well as various wooded areas along the U.S. Pacific coast. Their undeniable charm has led to them being the state bird of New Hampshire.
